Curb appeal during the fall and winter months can be challenging and forgotten about. Whether you're trying to sell your home or not, curb appeal is important all year around. Here are some simple tips to start:
Upkeep your Lawn
Although your grass may not need to be cut during the fall and winter months, it still needs some attention. For warmer climates, trim the grass and remove weeds. In colder climates, keep your driveway and sidewalk clear of snow and debris.
Pruning
No matter where you live in, pruning your shrubs and trees is important for curb appeal and safety. In colder climates, it's best to prune before the cold sets in for a more manicured look and to keep dead branches from falling, causing yard and sidewalk debris.
Add Color
The flowers are gone but don't let that stop you. In warmer climates, replace flowers with heartier shrubs. For colder climates, decorate the mailbox or front entryway with artificial greenery like a wreath or, add rubber mulch/rocks to add visual interest.
Tip: Consider sprucing up your front door with a fresh coat of paint!
Spruce up the Exterior Facade
Curb appeal is also about maintenance. Pressure washing the entire exterior of your home is a great way to remove dirt and grime. Also, downspouts and gutters should be cleared of debris. Lastly, ensure that all windows and doors are working and sealed properly.
Tip: Change bulbs in outdoor lighting fixtures, add new address numbers if they're looking a little rough, and add a new doormat!
